Antelope screens at Ideas For Wellbeing event during Southampton Film Week 2017

On Tuesday 14th November, Healthwatch Southampton and Touch Network co-hosted an evening of film and discussion around local mental health services as part of Southampton Film Week.

Over 80 people attended the screening of several short films made by local filmmakers that detailed the experiences of local residents mental health journeys including Antelope, by Ben Grace

Following the screening, Ben Grace, alongside a panel of filmmakers, service users and industry professionals discussed mental health services locally, their own wellbeing and took questions from the audience.

This film screening acted as the launch for Ideas For Wellbeing, a piece of research commissioned by local health and social care providers and co-produced by Healthwatch Southampton and Touch Network that looks to find out what helps the people who live here to stay well and have better days, as well as how best we can spend the money we have to support this.

Local health and social care providers are asking this because they want people in Southampton to feel as mentally and emotionally well as they can, and to be a City that gives you the best chance of living the life you want. This piece of research will help to inform how best to establish a local mental health service user forum.
